Forever Wild Leopard Conservation Initiative

Although leopards are not considered endangered in a global context, nationally they are considered to be threatened with extinction in the medium. Habitat loss is the main factor threatening the future survival of healthy leopard populations in South Africa.

The leopard is a highly adaptable species with the ability to live in a range of habitats and this has favoured its continued existence. It has also however created a potential conflict situation particularly in livestock production areas and where people live in close proximity to large natural areas.

Presently the main focus of the Wilderness Foundation Africa's leopard conservation work is in South Africa in partnership with the Cape Leopard Trust.
