Dear Friend of the Wilderness Foundation Africa

We are bombarded on an almost daily basis by the alarming statistics regarding the rhino poaching crises. The Wilderness Foundation Forever Wild Rhino Protection Initiative has taken groundbreaking steps in the struggle to protect these majestic creatures and the wild places in which they roam.

In celebration of this remarkable effort an exclusive limited edition wine called the Ian Player Black Rhino Legacy Project has just been released – an exciting collaborative ‘where wine and wild combine’ conservation project between The Wilderness Foundation and Graham Beck Wines. The opportunity to raise a glass of the Ian Player Black Rhino Legacy Project is not only an occasion for wine lovers to enjoy a world class quality wine – it is the chance for consumers who care to put the planet first.

This ultra premium Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 red blend has been specially crafted by Graham Beck Wines and is available exclusively to friends and supporters of the Wilderness Foundation at the special offer price of R2 999 per case of 6 bottles. 100% of the proceeds of the sales of this collector’s item wine will be ploughed directly back into The Black Rhino Legacy Project.

The late Ian Player (one of South Africa and the world’s foremost conservationists) founded the Wilderness Foundation in 1971. He dedicated his life to the protection of both white and black rhino and the habitats across Southern Africa which nurture them.

To mark this exceptional achievement we launched the Ian Player Black Rhino Legacy Project in 2015. Our vision is to maintain a well protected population of endangered black rhino, with the long term goal of reintroducing them to new and expanding conservation areas.

This exceptional wine pays tribute, not only to one of the country’s greatest conservation legends, but also to all the tireless work being done by those that follow in Mr. Player’s footsteps. Initiatives such as The Black Rhino Legacy Project, our Forever Wild Conservation Programme and Graham Beck’s own numerous conservation campaigns are making tangible and lasting changes in the wildlife and habitat preservation landscape of Southern Africa.

The wine exudes intense aromas of dark fruit, sandalwood and tobacco supported by hints of sweet spice and a deep blackberry core. It is richly textured, superbly concentrated and skillfully interwoven with delicate fruit sweetness. This delectable red has a full palate weight and well rounded tannins combined with outstanding integration and length. Powerful and finely nuanced, it will benefit from a further 6 – 10 years of bottle maturation and is the ideal partner to a variety of hearty dishes.
