Adrian Gardiner - Chairman

Founder and owner of the Mantis Collection

Adrian Gardiner was educated in Zimbabwe and then at the University of Cape Town where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.  His entrepreneurial career began in 1974 and for 30 years he has shown commercial flair in building businesses spanning swimming pool construction and specialist plant hire to commercial retirement and health care centres.  
His major contribution in Port Elizabeth and the Eastern Cape has been in the tourism industry where he has developed the Mantis Group comprising not only 8 luxurious hotels including the internationally famous and award winning Shamwari Game Reserve, but also an extensive business empire including retirement villages, travel agencies, hire companies and consultancies.
At the 7th WWC it was announced that Shamwari Game Reserve had created Africa's first privately owned, legal wilderness area of 3500 hectares.

Todani Moyo - Deputy Chairman / Treasurer

Chairman and CEO of Yokoyo Investments (Pty) Ltd

Todani Moyo is a professional accountant, with experience as an investment banker in the United States of America and as Chairman and Chief Executive of Msinsi Holdings (Pty) Ltd in South Africa, among others. He sits on a number of reputable boards in South Africa, bringing expertise in corporate governance and enterprise risk management.

Nomkhita Mona - Trustee

CEO of the Uitenhage Despatch Development Initiative

Before becoming the Chief Executive Officer of Inkezo Land Company, Nomkhita held the position of CEO, Eastern Cape Tourism Board.  Prior to that, she held the position of Registrar at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) in Mpumalanga.
Nomkhita is a board member of Goodyear and deputy chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber. In November 2001, she chaired a session at the International World Wilderness Congress.  Nomkhita holds an MBA from Rhodes University. She also holds a Masters degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources from the University of Port Elizabeth.

Sharon Oliver - Trustee

Co-founder of the Oliver Foundation

Sharon Oliver lives in the UK.  Over a period of years she has been involved in conservation world-wide, through the UK based David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.  Most recently her interests have focused in South Africa, where she has actively overseen the transformation of a cattle farm in the
Eastern Cape, into a protected wilderness for flora and fauna.  Her intention is to raise awareness and funds in the UK for the protection of precious wilderness.

Fanyana Shiburi - Trustee

Director of Kgorong Investment Holdings

Fanyana Shiburi was an award-winning journalist with the Sowetan, the Star and the Rand Daily Mail newspapers for over 20 years. He joined SANParks as their Marketing and Communications Director, where he co-founded the Imbewu Youth Programme together with The Wilderness Foundation. He subsequently brought his skills to the portfolio of Group Public Affairs Director of DaimlerChrysler, where he was involved in President Nelson Mandela initiatives, the Khula Cultural Village in Sodwana and various other social responsibility programmes. He serves on diverse boards such as Kgorong Investment Holdings, Board Member Wilderness Foundation, Board Member National Parks Honorary Rangers, Council Member Rhodes Business School, South African Football Association Development Council, Founder member National Black Business Council, Director SA Wildlife Anti-poaching Council, Founder member South African Union of Black Journalists and is a Founder member Media Workers Union of South Africa. His qualifications range from Journalism to Management from numerous institutions including Rhodes Business School, Wits Business School and Insead (France).

Nicholas Webb - Trustee

Acting MD of Dubai World Africa Services (Pty) Ltd

Nick Webb has been a Trustee of the Wilderness Foundation since 2008 and worked closely with Dr Ian Player and other members of the Campaign for St Lucia in the early 1990’s
He has various qualifications and extensive work experience in the planning, design and development fields and has always infused his work with a strong conservation ethos.
Nick has held positions with the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Government, The eThekweni Municipality, Mirage Leisure & Development as well as Sun International and is currently the Managing Director of Dubai World Africa – a company with extensive private game reserve and lodge interests around Africa.
