Named after the world’s most travelled dog, Oscar Maximus will be joining the Algoa FM team for a live broadcast from the Green Leaf Café at the Donkin Reserve on Monday, 07 May, 2012.
Oscar Maximus weighs in at 262 kilograms, is 30 metres tall and consumes 50 000 grams of propane gas an our!
The giant hot air balloon is modelled after the original Oscar – one of the world’s favourite globe-trotting, adventure-seeking and awareness raising dogs. In 2009, Oscar was the 2009 first dog to travel around the world, covering 200 000 kilometres in order to raise awareness of dog shelters, and dog adoptions. Oscar has gone 'walkies' on the Great Wall of China, survived crocodiles in the Zambezi River and kissed the Sphinx at sunrise.
Now, together with Oscar Maximus, he is travelling across South Africa to teach people about proper pet care, and raise awareness of the benefits of animal adoptions.
The live broadcast with the Morning Show team and Oscar will take place on Monday, 7 May between 06h00 and 07h00.
The Green Leaf Café will be open from 06h00 for coffee and breakfast, so come and watch the balloon tether and join Algoa FM for the live broadcast.
