We are living in trying times and it is important that we all work together to address the current global COVID-19 pandemic.
South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national disaster and announced a range of extraordinary measures. I would like to share how Wilderness Foundation Africa will be working to ensure the safety of our team, our partners and global citizens.
Our vision is to protect and sustain all life on earth for the benefit of current and future generations, and in keeping with this vision, we have done the following:
- It is critical that we protect the vulnerable youth with whom we work, as well as our staff members. We have therefore suspended all of our Youth Development Programme training activities for the next 30 days. This includes all trails, short courses and learning programmes.
- We have suspended all domestic and international travel, unless critical. We have also cancelled all events and networking platforms for the next 30 days.
- Whilst our team are still working from the office, we are keeping them healthy by improving our existing hygiene regimes at our offices and supplying products to avoid infection. We are keeping our staff informed on how to protect their themselves and those around them.
- We encourage social distancing for the foreseeable future.
We will review and update our policy week by week. I would like to end off by encouraging each of you to remain calm, to assist the vulnerable wherever possible and to use this situation to develop strategies for a greater future.
Every crisis is an opportunity for growth.
